Fifty cars out, 4,000 in the export pipeline — how the MAYS record sits together

The delivery count and the Uzbek order are six weeks apart and belong to the same record. Neither is independently counted, and the company has said so is the case.

A trading desk reads a manufacturer by what moves. On the MAYS record, two movements sit six weeks apart and are best read together: a stated delivery total in August, and an export order in September.

The first is not ours. Muscat Daily carried it on 8 August in an interview with co-founder Haider bin Adnan al-Zaabi: more than fifty cars delivered to buyers including government bodies and private companies, a pipeline of about 4,000 for export, 1,300 of it in North Africa, and entry into seven markets at different stages.

The second is an agreement of $17.9m for 750 vehicles, signed on 30 September at the Omani embassy in Tashkent, in front of Oman's ambassador Wafa al-Busaidi. Oman Observer reported it and, to its credit, reported the omission: MAYS did not name its Uzbek partner or the model. The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development was present, per Al Shabiba on 4 October.

Why the pairing matters

Read alone, fifty delivered cars is a small number and reads as a stall. Read alone, a 750-car order for a country the company has not sold into reads as ambition. Together they are a supply line being opened: the domestic count is the proof of build, the order is the test of whether anyone abroad will take it. Neither reading is the company's.

A report of this kind is exposed in two places. The delivery count was published inside an interview, from the company, and no inspector has recounted it. The Uzbek deal was announced by the founder on social media before any outlet carried it, and no Uzbek outlet has been found covering it from Tashkent.

The product record has moved under the story as well. Launch reports in 2022 carried 4.9 s and 280 km/h; the current site gives about 7 s and above 170 km/h, and the 2022 pieces repeated the old figures without a test. The site is drivemays.com. Two of the company's other domains, maysmotors.com and mays.om, do not serve the site — a reader typing the obvious name finds a parked page and no route to the record.
